An Upgrade To Vegetarianism. πΏπΎπ₯
Today marks 4 months of me trying to go vegetarian,
and it's safe to say that it's been quite an experience. This article
aims to elucidate to you the reader, on what I observed about myself
through this journey.
I started this journey out of a first hand experience of animals around me such as goats, dogs, cat, cows and other livestock.
What I realized is that what's common among *all* of them, is that they all have distinct personalities, and show emotions when in contact with humans and their own kin. Among them, I saw so many emotions such as Jealousy, Hurt, Liveliness, innocence, sloth, and Various levels of Love, and of anger.
Amongst these thoughts, social media brought to the attention of the massacre seen in the Chinese markets due to the cases of the epidemic seen worldwide. Some photos and videos showed the utter savagery of our kind, not just the Chinese, but the Indians too, the Europeans, Americans, and others towards these innocent souls, which are too graphic for me to post on here.
So naturally, any conscious being would feel that the hurt we cause to these innocent creatures must stop, and since I realize I can't change the world, I must change myself, and hence took a decision to do my part and stay away from meat unless there being no other choice.
The benefits I observed through this change in my living are as follows-
• I felt much more active and less lethargic throughout the day. I realized that I needed lesser sleep to function properly throughout the day.
Reason- I believe this might be due to easier the greens being easier for digestion as compared to the reds , thereby requiring less energy for metabolizing the food and thereby requiring less sleep and more activeness due to increased energy π²
• I felt clearer in my mind and felt less angry just throughout.π§♂️
Reason- I don't have any. This Maybe a placebo or not. irregardless, it worked.
• I lost some body fat, especially around the stomach.
Reason- Ultimately, burning fat is possible only when your calories burned are greater than the calories consumed. And its no secret that meat is much more calorie dense than veggies, and even though we never ate meat much even before, about twice or thrice a month. Completely stopping it did make a difference.
• In general I feel much healthier, less groggier, and amazing!π§♂️
And that dear reader, is how this lifestyle change was quite a positive effect on me. There was a time when I completely forgot about my decision, until my teeth were halfway pierced into a fried chickens leg, only for me to sigh, and keep it down, and feel guilty for a while on forgetting my promise. I also got similar responses from people around me, positively surprised to meet a vegetarian Muslim, while a few family members thought it's just a phase that I am going through.
All things aside, when cooked properly, non vegetarianπ is tasty as heck. So initially fighting the wants has been quite a challenge, but still easier to leave than other bad habits of mine.π
So this dear reader, is my experience on shifting to vegetarianism, and the benefits I experienced throughout this. I urge you to try it out for a month and see it for yourself.π₯
*My experiences are not scientifically backed, just my opinions. If you do decide to try this for yourself dear reader, you could get different results, so please take my opinions with a grain of salt, and enter with an open mind, without any expectations of similar experiences. π
